We came for dinner here between Christmas and New Year and were impressed by the standard of cooking and diligent service. I had Salmon confit and Venison and both dishes were excellent, filling without being overwhelming, full of nuanced flavours and prettily presented. The venue itself looks austere and 1950s on the outside only to be startlingly baroque on the inside, with wonderful carved wooden panelling and ceilings and mother of pearl inlaid mosaics. We stayed for over three hours inspired to good conversation by the food and good wine. I wondered around the hall before the coffee (last guests there) and felt genuinely cowed by the glowering stags heads on the walls and deserted perfect rooms. The Wirral never ceases to surprise with its history and bygone times.

I had my wedding at this venue. O was promised that they would take care of everything on day of my wedding, I would have event Manager on the day all day and they would take care of everything.On the Wedding day, once guests had taken seats, they were no where to be seen. There were times when the carpet was rolled up on walking isle, it was dangerous for anyone walking on it and event manager was no where to be seen to take care of it.I made a complaint however they refused to take responsibility. I would not recommend anyone booking an event at this place.
Had a pamper with my dad on 5th September. We arrived and had something to eat, then we were told we could use the pool, steam room etc and we would be called for treatments. Didn't have long before we were called and unfortunately, rushed to go for treatment. However, the lunch was nice, although I thought I was hungrier than I was, but the sandwiches are amazing. I had a facial and lava shell massage, both of which were amazing, and the young girl was really good. My dad had a facial and salt scrub, which he enjoyed. Would definitely go back. Fantastic place.
A superb experience from start to finish however what particularly stood out was the exceptional attitude of the staff. I have never stayed in a hotel and come away with such a good impression of the team at the hotel. Facilities, decoration and quality of food were also to a very high standard. Thank you very much for such an amazing experience, I would certainly highly recommend!
